ABOUT
Annabel Kilpatrick, known as Bel Kil, is a Melbourne-based singer-songwriter, producer and engineer. For the past two years, she has put her heart and soul into creating all aspects of her debut EP ‘My Year’. Her EP is multifaceted and blends electronic production with indie, rock, hip hop and a hint of funk. Her laid-back vocals and sweeping, anthemic choruses are fused with catchy hooks and witty, reflective lyrics. Her songs are incisive perceptions of life, love and dreams, laid bare on a backdrop of rousing, spirited beats.
Growing up on a farm in the Northern Grampians, surrounded by a family with a love of music and entertaining, Bel spent her childhood playing guitar, constructing and creating with an inquisitive mind. Music was always at the forefront but the confidence to pursue it as a career came later after a bike accident.
"Sound is so powerful. Music has the ability to change my mood instantly. So many of my nostalgic memories growing up are shaped by songs. I love good lyrics but it is the sonic elements that stay with me. The way sound is used dynamically to take you on an emotional journey, happy or sad."
Bel's feature single ‘My Year’ is a semi-finalist in both the Unsigned Only and the International Songwriting Competition judged by Cold Play’s Chris Martin, Mariah Carey and Tom Waits. Her debut received Spotify editorial playlisting, as well as broader support from media and radio including Triple J unearthed, Triple R, SYN, PBS, Pile Rats, Ramona Mag, Music Feeds, Lost In The Nordics and many more. She has held packed-out headline shows at The LeadBeater, Toff In Town and the Barwon Club, supported Sloane Peterson and Aria award nominee Odette and is set to release new music and play at numerous festivals throughout 2023.
